MI-4 - good choice or not?

Post by dave b » Sat Dec 29, 2018 10:16 am

Hi some advise please , I am thinking of buying the mi4 but I am worried that it is to quiet and won’t be able to hear it with my headphones on, is the vibrate function strong enough to feel with gloves on.

I havn`t got one of those particular pinpointers myself, but in the past ,I`ve found if I cannot hear clear enough for anything its no problem to just push one of your headphone cups up a bit with a finger just to get the pinpointers noise to be heard.

The Mi6 pinpointer is beautifully made and has been working very well, with a long battery life on each recharge. Whilst it is very similar (but without the headphone connectivity for wireless audio) I’ve not used an Mi4.

Any users out there?

The MI-4 is pretty much identical to the MI-6, but without the ability to pair with the Deus. It has a slightly different start-up tune, but that's about it.

Vibration works just fine with the Briers work gloves I use. It's not deafeningly loud, and I wouldn't want it to be (I had to put tape over the speaker on another pinpointer I had), but it's fine with on-ear headphones. It's a struggle with the over-ear ones, but the vibration mode is good enough that you don't need to take them off. You can also run it in vibration only, if you wish.

In summary, I'd say it certainly is a good choice ::g

I've not used a MI-4 but my MI-6 I found really too quiet as a stand alone. But the MI-6 when paired up to the Deus sounds great. The vibration is strong but horribly clunky like a jack-hammer so I have that switched off.

Hi all thanks for the comments , I think I will buy the mi4 in the new year, as it seams more water tight than the rest, I will let you know what I think of it.
