Just joined MI6

Post by roamingrob » Fri Dec 08, 2017 4:12 pm

My Wife ordered me the XP MI6 Pin pointer Thursday at 14:30 as a early Christmas surprise present
It came at 08:40 this morning x; What great service from Regton again. Once charged it was play time as the it snowed here last night so no detecting today. I paired it with my deus very easy to do and use. Can not wait to get out with it on my new permission wonder what the first item it will locate will be ? But its work Sat &Sun and more snow forecast so for now will have to be patient

Have a good Christmas all

It's a cracking bit of kit with huge battery life. Enjoy.
Essential equipment:
Some sort of electrical gubbins(I'm told it's a Deus). In various colours

It is indeed a fantastic piece of kit Rob ::g
Superb how it is so versatile and silent to others!

The battery life is much appreciated with the amount of signals encountered :D

Is there any chance that they will bring out an additional fix so the pointer can be paired with us detectorists who still use the V2 system ?
Geoff

PS, I have just bought one and find it a bit quite

Why would you doubt it ? it's a reasonable request, besides I don't like V4

I was only jesting with you on the V4 update as I do understand why you might want to stay with V2. ::g

I do however very much doubt (In fact I’d bet my house on it) they would spend hundreds of thousands of pounds reconfiguring older software to allow the pinpointer to work. The v3.2 to v4 update was only done to allow the Mi6 pinpointer and the new HF coils to work with the existing hardware. There were, of course, 2 new programmes added as well and the start of other new things that they’ll make money from later (i.e. the search app). In addition i suspect (although have no evidence) other new stuff may be hidden in the update we get soon as well to be released later.

The simple fact is software changes cost a lot of money to do. So you do them to get a return on your investment. And you do them once so consequently older software won’t be supported. Sorry but you have, as they say, bob hope and no hope :E It really is a case of move to v4 or use your new pinpointer as a stand alone device 98;

To be honest I don't know why I was bothered about it, when the new Minelab has been used by others and it is going to be as good as they say then I will get one.
