First time out on sunday afternoon with the EQUINOX 800 used the quick start up from manual for half hour that was not to good a bit sparky,i did a manual ground balance and that came in at 42-46 used field 1 multi khz 5 tone FE2 recovery 4 and 5 now things were going well and getting finds,i found 2 GEORGE 111 pennys 1 GEORGE V half penny 1 GEORGE VI sixpence 3 buttons a toy cartwheel a few bits of lead 2 303 cases and a few bits of bronze.
I have been over this bit of ground with a deus 4.1 at 13 khz up to the highest HF khz, also been over the same bit of ground with a fors core.
Ok very poor finds but this same bit of ground has been detected on over the last 4 sundays, so the equinox has found things the other 2 detectors have missed.
The down side was the headphones the tones came through very well but i was a mile from the east coast and the wind was quite strong and they fail to blank out unwonted wind sound.
Field 1 multi there was no coke but in park 1 i was picking up ID 1 and JA tell me coke comes in at ID 1

I’m just glad we’re actually starting to get real reports. I was bored of hearing about a machine that no-one actually had yet got hold of.
So I’ll now be very interested to see if it is a good solid detector. It’s nice to have a whole load of machines to chose from in the under £1000 range. I hope this one ends up being a good choice for those of you that go for it.
Please Equinox, and the rest of you that have one of these, keep reporting back with a good, honest appraisals. It’ll be interesting to see what it can do

I am looking to buy an Equinox 800 for my partner but will wait to see what feedback from users comes back. The initial reports from the manufacturers and the people who carry out the field test look very good but can be biased in favour of the manufacturer who wish to maximize sales figures. You cant beat real feedback from the actual users of this machine so I will bide my time and wait.

Yep same here, i am holding back on buying either the deus or minelab and am waiting also for a few field reports from users.
Calabash digger on youtube has brought out a series of videos on the minelab performance and the machine is looking good so far, well worth watching. There are also a few other videos out there from different users.

I still stand by the link I post earlier
However it would appear its be proved that the equinox is better at small gold than the other multifrequency MineLab machines
Which no doubt will be annoying to people who have already a more expensive machine.

I feel one of the hardest things when considering a new detector is getting a proper feel for the machine in a field environment, So unless you are lucky enough to have a mate who has the machine you want to try, you really have to go buy one. Myself and Bob the log, have a few machines between us, and we are happy to let friends try them out, out in the field, which a few people have now done.
But I have always said if I am on a rally with any of you from this forum, and you would like to try any of my detectors you only have to ask I now have the Nox 800, added to my little collection, and the same applies. So if you fancy trying it out Oxgirl, ask me next time we hit the same rally.

That’s a lovely offer, thanks Kevin Your on. And I’m going to place you on the windy side so I can get you to be my wind break whilst I find all the good stuff with your machine

Great link but the real secret of success isn't just confident detectorists but confident detectorists who have a machine that they know and enjoy using.

Not at all, who want's small gold? I want stonking great lumps of the yellow stuff and the more expensive machines can generally detect that at very acceptable depths!
