A few equinox mods

Post by Tomo » Fri Apr 27, 2018 9:14 am

One thing I noticed on the equinox when taking it out of the box was the really wide arm rest cup compared to the likes of the deus and quickly decided that had to be altered as I don't like using the strap.
Secondly after a 3 day session I found the sharp edges of the bottom of the control box was rubbing on the top of my hand making it sore, so set about making a foam support and although doesn't look the prettiest accessory, after many sessions it's alot better and very comfortable.
Thirdly, although lighter than previous multi's, it's still slightly front heavy and after a few hours it begins to tire the arm. A simple 70 Gram fishing weight (previously found by the nox) was hammered thinner so the diameter fit inside the end of the shaft, wrapped in electrical tape until it was a snug fit and cap replaced. Although it's adds 70 grams more weight, it takes some of the forward weight off the machine and balances it just nice. I know some people fix there pin pointer here to balance it out but as I don't use one, it's solves the problem for me.

Hello Tomo ::g I knew it would be a good DIY tip coming from you! Three simple DIY solutions identified and remedied by simple DIY application. No doubt others are already taking action at this moment! Nice one, thanks for sharing. ::g Regards ss47

Cheers. I'll remember to lead weight trick when I get the larger coil (apparently one will be parachuted into Dectectival and then they will become available in the shops sometime over the next decade or so! :D ). ::g

3 good simple mods so thank you for sharing this but please dont tell minelab about the mods or they will be marketing them at a grealty inflated price and then there will be another horrendous waiting list lol !

Love the foam mod.
I agree that the screen also irritates my hand, not so much a sharp issue but an annoying snag, out in the field tomorrow so definitely giving this a go!
Cheers ::g

Blimey, that's a lot of mods required for the machine that's obsoleting all other detectors. Minelab should employ you as a field tester, looks like they need one :D

....harsh!.....the Equinox doesn't require any mods in my opinion.
It's completely up to the user and not for everyone.
More people have done mods to the Deus!! :D
