1, 2, 5 or 50 tones?

Post by dirtdigger1 » Sun May 13, 2018 10:33 pm

Just wondering which tones you tend to use most, as i'm confused as to which to choose for my beach hunting?

Do you use 1, 2, 5 or 50 tones most??

thanks.

Good poll. I normally went for 50 tones, mainly because I liked the sound. However, I didn't feel it was giving me any extra info with regards to the target ID.

I'd be interested to hear on others opinions with regards to the above.

I've started using 5 tones now.

I am loving my new Nox 800 and seem to get the best results using 5 tones. ::g

One. Beep = dig :D

Also with my multiple-tone detector, so it doesn't matter.
Good luck hunting.

It's a personal thing but 2 tones for me all day long.
I just don't get people saying they can get extra information from 50 tones.
You either get a dig signal or not.
With 2 tones you can can tune into the subtle nuances of winkling small non ferrous from iron.
Just my opinion! ::g

It's like screen ID. Id/tone can be different for the same object. You simply can't tell by id or tone what's beneath. Only by digging it.
What i said; beep = dig.

But what if a small celtic/roman object got corroded by iron ground corrosion? That one gives an iron signal. Or changing within iron and low non-ferrous.
And deeper (on the edge of md-depth) signals get iffy, and eventually will give lower id/tone signal, so can duck into iron ranges too.
I suggest you more often dig bigger iron signals too. You will find surprises between a lot off rubbish! ;)

Dig much, find much. Dig less, find less!
Good luck hunting.

Well, I changed from 50 tones to 5 tones over the weekend and all worked fine for me. I am a little worried that I am missing those small signals but I will persevere.
