Nox carbon shaft mod

Post by atlanta7 » Fri Jul 06, 2018 11:30 am

I think the Nox is better with the carbon shaft . I left it at 1m to give more strength when fully extended . I only put a few adjustment holes to suit Kev and myself and the odd shorter one as rarely a relation comes with us . The weight difference is stock 190G Carbon 80G . I did away with joint next to control .
The 22mm OD X 20MM ID I got off Amazon £21 inc pp . Clasp from the USA £20 AS COULDNT find one in the UK until now . Found a quick realise one for £14 . If its ok will post details . surprising how things start to appear . There where some clasps on ebay £17 came OFF the bloke in the USA and someone selling on in the UK ????

I have just got the racer 2 . Had a look out this morning . Settings 3T , gain 70 bad land, id 25 , AUDIO pushed to 60 . Gb was around 70 . Only thing I could say deepest target dug 4 inch ???? Half pennie, modern coins , Musket Ball . Not a lot else . Left other setting stock . Bit strange max deoth 4 inch thought I should of had the odd 6 /8 inch strange .

Noxie Carbon shaft .

Post by atlanta7 » Sat Jul 07, 2018 8:09 am

Thought I start a topic on the Equinox carbon shaft . I bought 1m of 22mmOD X 20MM ID CARBON TUBE off amazon £21 inc pp UK supplier . I have opted for a quick realise £ 13.80 .
I left it at a meter to give better strength when fully extended .
I found to strike the line on the masking tape on the shaft I got a piece of angle 10mm deep . Taped the shaft to it . Then marked against the straight edge . Remove reset so the line was vertical . Retaped . Lie sock shaft against the carbon and mark the holes you want . Arm cup /control / locking holes . I think you should drill the hole in one position that's why I retape to the angle . So that the hole are in the same line . I drill all at 6mm first . Arm cup right through Control throught one side as the locking holes . Redrill arm cup to 9mm right through .Control 9mm one side only . I have a bench drill which made it easier as the arm cup holes need to be vertical or the arm cup will be out of line . Then fit your locking clasp ,armcup , and control . Pop in the stem . And there you go . Defo recommend the 10mm angle t fix to act like a gig keeps every thing in line . Unless you ase very good at this sort of thing which I am not lol .

Moderator note: apologies I split this topic from Atlanta7s intro post as I thought it was a great tip.

He had the same idea to start another topic. Now both posts are combined but it might appear weird - my fault! Sorry

Thanks for posting your upgrade. Have ordered a clamp but which vendor did you use for the tube? The only one I can find that is UK based is Katana who want £32 for a 1m length.

Many thanks for posting this information, many of us are wanting to shift from the issued shaft. Don't know if anyone else is having difficulties with the tube on amazon but I am! Help appreciated with this problem..

I’ve seen others do a complete one piece stem. I know you can’t adjust the height this way but it would keep the weight down even more. Could even possibly have the cable going up the inside of the stem. Does anyone know how I could connect the coil to the carbon shaft?

I made an enquiry with Katana who seem to be the main UK Ebay seller, they will have new stock in the next 2 - 3 weeks.

YES I USED THE STOCK STEM . But I wet and dried the stem as was a smidge tight sliding in and out with the quick realise cam lock .
Great to see some one has found a supplier for the 22/20 CF tube .
I bought some plugs off ebay only a couple of quid or you could put the one the stock stem .
