Equinox 15" coil

Post by SuperRed » Thu Oct 11, 2018 3:40 pm

It seems as though the 15x12" coil should/could be with us by the end of next week, although no breath-holding here after the previous release expectations.

I'm looking forward hearing initial assessments though! ;)

Can be pre-ordered at £219.00.......... an offer that was available online, then withdrawn and those on the pre-order list, could pay an extra £80 to make it £299.

The £219 offer is now back on.................

Make of that what you will! ::g

I was quoted £219 initially John, but today told "we're not sure yet". Given the sales pitch for the Nox (more machine for a reasonable price), I'll be miffed it is 300 quid!

Even if it means getting an inch deeper it could open up pasture that's an unreachable depth to me at the moment.
Maybe...
Won't buy till I hear the reviews first though.

I have already had a play with one of these, and know I shall buy one when available, nice bit of kit. I was told they would be available at the end of the month.👍

The 6" Equinox coil is £40 less than the CTX one, so it makes no sense to then charge the same amount for the Equinox 15x12 as they do for the larger CTX 17x13.

Like SR, I will also be a bit miffed (to say the least) if that does turn out to be the case, but for now I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

Just wondering - the large coil will obviously give greater ground coverage per swing, but does it promise greater depth, or any other benefit over and above the standard coil?

As an aside I've just fitted the newly acquired 6" coil to my 800 to try out on Epsom Downs this weekend - it looks ridiculous:)

Detecting on the Downs (around the racecourse) produces many, many varied signals - with normal coils maybe one coin or something of interest for every 10 ring pulls / horseshoes / nails... but I'll be trying it out on previously well covered trashy areas just to see if it makes life a bit easier to discriminate between the good, bad & ugly:)

If I got the 15" coil I'd want it to always be attached to a lower stem so I don't have to bolt it on every time. Looked up lower stems and can't find anyone selling them! :-/

I've already got one for the same reason Dom, but I think that outlets are waiting for them to come in (much like the coil). I know that Detectorbits are expecting them soon so you may want to contact them. Around 30 quid I believe.

The downside - it changes the ergonomics of Equinox as it makes it quite nose heavy. After few hours my back hurt so will probably use harness most of the time. On the plus side the coverage is great, which is especially nice on the beach, and it punches really deeply. It is also incredibly sensitive for such a big coil - I was finding tiny bits, literally few millimetres across, and that was in wet salt sand. I actually use it as my standard coil now :)
