Multi IQ question

Post by DingDong » Thu Jan 03, 2019 10:11 pm

I have been looking at the Nox and this link compares the 600 v 800, my q is regards Multi IQ

https://www.minelab.com/go-minelabbing/ ... w55Jn28tn0

why does the top "boomerang" part of the graphic dip down at the 15khz point to me it is implying Multi IQ on the 600 works up to 40khz, how can it?

a 2nd Q is the wired headset connection a conventional ie 1/4"/miniature one or a dedicated one like At Pro, if it is standard would a Garrett WM3 transmitter and wifi headet work with it

cheers

dingdong.

That's 'creative advertising' , not actual technical stuff.
Multi-IQ works at the same frequencies for both the 600 and 800 models. The highest freq is 39kHz, the lowest is 7.8kHz, with one or two others inbetween depending on mode.
But .... it's a reprogrammable machine, future software revisions could be completely different, and there is some evidence that the original V1.5 is not the same as later versions ...

Slightly off topic but the main reason I went for the 600 over the 800 was I could see no point in paying for the extras, the 600 in my favoured Field 2 works on exactly the same mix of frequencies as the 800. On the operational level you just get less modes and less choices of operating on single frequencies, no real loss in my book.

Each Mode on the Nox performs differently as a result of the combination of settings and frequencies used. The frequencies used in each Mode to create the Multifrequency varies because individual frequencies penetrate the ground differently and are more sensitive to different targets. As far as I can tell the 600 and 800 are similar but the Settings on the 800 can be more finely adjusted and it has a few other features. ::g

Just read the Minelab forum link in the original post and it is a very good article. It possibly plays down the value of the adjustability on the 800 a bit too much. It is certainly right about the 600 being fantastic value for money though. ::g

Yes the garrett wm3 transmitter and wifi headphones work very well.
you just need a 3.5mm to 6.35mm lead adapter for the transmitter.

Fusion, Fred & Tom,

sorry to be a bit slow on this, are you all saying in a different way when using multi freq the 600 covers the same range as the 800 but on single freq working only the lower 3 freqs are selectable on the 600

cheers

The 20 and 40 KHz single frequencies are not available on the 600. I believe that they are still included in the multifrequency settings used in the preset modes though. ::g

If you haven't already done so it's worth having a shufti at the manual, which is available online. :D

Thanks guys

That does make the 600 price look good, need to some more reading n the other diffs, sometimes I feel the more you can adjust the more chances are that you can get it mucked up for the detecting you are doing,

I am looking towards year end and an upgrade, initially my prime concern was having ground balance but as i read and learn I decided multi freq esp simultaneous was the way to go, with cost always being a consideration (hence the Q on using my WM3 garrett wifi set up)

been great "meeting" you all

cheers
