Hi yes ::g

Unfortunately at the start I dont think there will be any price reduction offers on as most dealers will have limited supplies, we have to see nearer the time of release ::g

My thoughts exactly ::g :)) :))

There is a new video out that shows one being used out at the Corfe rally, and finding a hammered coin. nice to see that they are being tested out in the field. ::g

It will be interesting to see if there are actually any real world performance advantages over existing models. Part 1 reads to me that Multi-IQ it is not quite as good on silver targets as BBS/FBS, but ID's better at depth, so maybe a performance trade off? x;

It says it wont be as effective "in all conditions" as FBS/BBS, and its a very honest statement. The question is what exactly are the conditions where their multi frequency be weaker than BBS/FBS.

I suppose that having launched it they now have to try and keep the interest going until they are ready to sell them to us! :D

Bought a Minelab SE Pro for those times when I'm hitting the beach and want something more stable than the Deus. Had myself wondering whether I should have waited and bought an Equinox but then Minelab did something I've never seen a manufacturer do before. They published a honest statement about a newer technology in which they say it wont always be as good on the beaches as FBS.

"..Multi-IQ copes with saltwater and beach conditions almost as well as BBS/FBS, however BBS/FBS still have an advantage for finding high conductive silver coins in all conditions." http://www.minelab.com/usa/go-minelabbi ... ies-part-1

So, if the Equinox isnt quite as good on silver hammered and not as good on beaches, perhaps most of us will be better off with a used Minelab FBS from Fleabay - then take the remaining £300-400 down to the pub.

They also said it will be slightly more sensitive to high frequency targets ie, low conductive hammered silvers and gold.

Quote:"So, if the Equinox isnt quite as good on silver hammered ..."

When they say 'silver', they're meaning large milled silver coins, in a park-hunting sense, such as US quarters, half-dollars, full dollars.

This 'slight reduction in sensitivity to silver' is almost certainly due to the lowest operating frequency of the Equinox being 5kHz, versus the BBS/FBS low frequency of 3.125kHz.

I have wanted a waterproof machine for the beach and rivers for some time now. I am not too bothered about silver on a beach (although any silver is nice!) but it is how the machine performs on gold on the beach which I am curious to see with the Equinox 800.

The air test of the 9ct small gold ring in one of the Equinox videos was impressive. I hope that performance translates to real beach/inland testing. I want to see more videos on the machine before I commit to buy one.

Just imagine...
a nameless manufacturer has flagship product (a) that is effective, durable but too heavy and is starting to struggle for market share against a technologically advanced, fast, lighter competitor that is around the same price.

The nameless manufacturer notices that people are no longer prepared to accept heavy and unwieldy machines that cause back problems even if they have some of the best performance available.

The manufacturer decides to design a lighter product (b) with some of the flagship model's unnecessary bells and whistles removed. This new product is targeted at the emerging market for light/fast machines and they price it lower than their own flagship model. They don't want it to further remove sales of their own flagship so make some small marketing hints that it is slightly less effective in 'certain' conditions.

Time will tell how good it is I guess but sounds like the nameless manufacturer is finally listening to its customers.. ::g

It will b novel to see how less effective or more effective in certain iron infested sites the 800 and 600 using there is it 4-40 kHz multi freq setting are against there there flagship using FBS 2 combines Minelab's FBS multiple frequency rectangular-wave transmission (1.5 kHz –100 kHz) and another brand thats light ..Once it hits u tube and there are comparison s out there and they start appearing at rallies. Will minelab have shot themselves in the foot ??? A Bloke I know attended detecterval and had a go with the 800. He seen to think there will b a lot of second-hand machines in the dealers from minelab and a certain other brand. . I hope both the 600 and the 800 do well

I think he means:
"multiple frequencies being just 2 , in both BBS and FBS (and FBS2)"

Specifically, 3.125 kHz and 25 kHz. The different 'noise cancel' channels allow you to tweek these frequencies up or down ( about 10% each way ), always maintaining the 1-to-8 frequency ratio of the two. The low freq varies from 2.82 kHz up to 3.45 kHz.

That is what i meant thank you Fusion
