Me too, they're utterly pointless. We all know what the Equinox looks like, so it's not as if they're unveiling something that has never been seen before :-L

I have see these videos last week through the American detecting sites.

They certainly beat us Brits with their earlier delivery of the new Equinox detectors. ;)

Happy Hunting,

Jerry.

Yes that was worth watching thanks Roberts, the Germans also have a watchable video posted.

Iam still mystified why we dont appear to have any UK Equinox videos up yet?

Especially as our counties Detectival 17 was used as the launch pad.

It certainly was so different when Minelab had a UK based on the Emerald Isle.

Happy memories for many of us older hands. ;) Jerry.

I agree that 'unboxing' videos are truly worthless. However, talking about the Equinox's adaptability to surf/saltwater use appears to be also truly worthless. ML touted this machine a multi purpose including saltwater beaches and waterproof. This apparently sends a false message that it is good in saltwater surf because it is waterproof. However, after MANY requests to others and to ML's home office, no one has provided one bit of evidence that this machine is good in saltwater surf. Inasmuch as many of us need this machine to be useful in saltwater surf, it appears ML doesn't want to concede that this unit is not good for saltwater surf. I can think of no other reason that ML would hold back information on that feature. I know that this is a sensitive subject for those ML die hard fans but let the facts prove me differently. I would love to be wrong on this one!!

I'm not sure what 'evidence' Minelab could possibly provide. If they say that the Equinox will work in salt water then it probably will. Their track record for living up to their advertising hype is better than most manfacturers. The above video is certainly very encouraging anyway. ::g

That's not proof, just sales pitch. They have provided video testing of the prototype on land and very limited on beaches (see for yourself). There has been absolutely no credible proof of true salt water testing. There was one video in which they briefly show the coil dipping under about 2 inches of water without any results whatsoever. I don't doubt that ML is a fine manufacturer. However, before I fork over some money for an untested, unproven unit (at least for salt water), I want some form of proof that it is suitable for the purpose.

Thanks for the video....that's what I have been looking for ...some evidence the Equinox works in Saltwater!! I will keep my eyes open for additional videos on the same subject. If I determine that the Equinox is suitable for saltwater (including submersion of the battery box), I will proceed to my dealer with a purchase of it... Keep those videos coming (specifically the ones involving saltwater detecting). Thanks again!

:D The few videos that I have seen look very hopeful indeed. ::g

Why is he posting night digs, is he worried the shortage of them may lead to detector muggings?

The big problem for the viewer is that not all the early You-Tubers will have the experience to give an informed opinion so early. I won't be listening to any comments about "It's a great machine" or "I'm really impressed" etc etc. Unless it's proper testing that you can judge from the video the rest will be just noise. And don't forget, some You-Tubers will have found ways to get their hands on one simply because they know having "Minelab Equinox" in their video titles will send their subscriber numbers through the roof.

Take a lot of it with a pinch of salt in my opinion.

What continues to surprise me is that they are available to purchase from Europe, but not in the UK.

This has been the case for some days now. :( Jerry.

After seeing the Equinox in the salt water was what convinced me to get it.

Some more tests on the beach and wet sand. enjoy ::g (depth test and detecting)

I did read up that a few users said it was a bit nose heavy and had a little to much inertia while swinging.
