Why is he posting night digs, is he worried the shortage of them may lead to detector muggings?

He probably works in the day and wants to get his video up while demand is high

may sound odd, but i wonder if there is a way to alter the screaming tone on the pinpoint function?
i suffer very badly from tinnitus and just watching those videos made my ears ring. as nice as a machine as it may be, if it cant be altered i would not be able to use one

The big problem for the viewer is that not all the early You-Tubers will have the experience to give an informed opinion so early. I won't be listening to any comments about "It's a great machine" or "I'm really impressed" etc etc. Unless it's proper testing that you can judge from the video the rest will be just noise. And don't forget, some You-Tubers will have found ways to get their hands on one simply because they know having "Minelab Equinox" in their video titles will send their subscriber numbers through the roof.

Take a lot of it with a pinch of salt in my opinion.

What continues to surprise me is that they are available to purchase from Europe, but not in the UK.

This has been the case for some days now. :( Jerry.

ordered my 800 yesterday, long wait I know but I have my Quest Q40 until I get it.
After seeing the Equinox in the salt water was what convinced me to get it.

Some more tests on the beach and wet sand. enjoy ::g (depth test and detecting)

I did read up that a few users said it was a bit nose heavy and had a little to much inertia while swinging.

More unboxing and air test videos hitting YouTube now. Surely someone will film some targets being detected and actually dug at some point this weekend? :-w

Just been wading through all the Equinox videos on YouTube. As a machine it is looking very impressive, a shame that it is proving so elusive! :D

I did read up that a few users said it was a bit nose heavy and had a little to much inertia while swinging.

Had a play at Detectival, the only two things I didn't like was the that it seemed coil heavy, but thought maybe that could be sorted by adjusting the shaft.
Also the tones seemed muffled through the plug in Minelab headphones, perhaps could be rectified by tone adjustment.

At the moment, I must say I’m quite impressed with the air testing and the apparent performance when targets are buried. I think the Equinox 800 will be a cracking machine and a great addition to the metal detector market.

I have starting saving for mine already - in 8 months time I should reach my target just as the first batch are being released :)) ::g

Sounds about right :D

I might be tempted eventually, but only when stock is sitting in the shops and they start applying a discount. The Equinox looks pretty good, but I'm certainly not desperate to get my hands on one :)

I am a little concerned that it failed the nail test so badly, maybe that was down to the settings?

Sid has got his now and has posted two videos. He is off testing/detecting/filming today no doubt,

The second video is particularly useful (IMO) ::g

Funny because as a complete newb about detectors I wouldn't know where to start. Lucky for me I was bought mine as a present and .... I love it.

Looking at this or these videos there are a couple of things that strike a newbie to detecting but not a newbie at buying stuff ... particularly when it costs me a few quid.

The bag for this .... is it a boomerang shape cause that controle box is sticking up so high it's almost eye level isn't it. So to get that in a bag does it need to be dismantled. Could use a bin liner I guess. If it doesn't collapse down ... does that mean roof rack attachments =))

And those tones would drive me literally nuts. Sounds like a bloody theremin. That popular instrument everyone yearns to hear played.

That's what a newbie thinks about .... stupid ain't we LOL

I have eagerly watched all of the new videos as they emerged. Although I have seen a few good ones it strikes me that many of the testers don't really seem to understand Minelab machines at all. I suppose that this is understandable enough if they have been using other brands and have either been caught up in the hype or just fancied a change.

The individual tone ID, depth meters and other features are largely irrelevant to successful Minelab detecting unless you are just coinshooting on a reasonably prolific site. By and large it is not the stonking great signals that the machine instantly locks onto that matter, you could get those with the cheapest machines around. What matters is how you interpret the information that is fed back to you about all the little whispers, burps and splutters. ::g

Based on this I suspect that the machine has far more to offer than the reasonably impressive initial testing suggests. :D

Some very good videos now starting to emerge at last. Remembering that I primarily want to be able to winkle out very small signals on an irony site it still seems to have enough potential to be worth a play. ::g Even if I could get my hands on one I might wait until it warms up a bit first though. :D

Actually it occurs to me that it will probably be much warmer anyway by the time that I get my hands on one. :D

The deus couldn’t find it in their impromptu air test and the ctx was struggling but of course In the equinox the force was strong. :D
