The stock coil it comes with in my view, especially if your looking for coins. If your looking for bigger artefacts then a bigger coil will give you a more depth . I have an Ultimate coil which came with My T2SE when I bought it , but I think I`ve only used it on two or three occasions.

Well Paul I've had me t2 ltd for atleast 5 years and I've pretty much got it sussed out and I went with the detech 13 ultimate and after putting it on I never took it off the depth is amazing,I did have it reformatted and it worked perfect and alot less noise so I could run it very hot.but things has moved on since I bought the detech coil so there may be better options now but for me I wouldn't swop, hope this helps cheers ken

The short answer is the best coil for the T2 is probably the stock coil.

I have never really seen a well conducted head to head coil test for any machine but we all get tempted by different coils and if you find stuff - they work.

I've put a 13" ultimate on my T2 classic mainly because I fancied a change. Note that I only search in all metal so can't comment how it works in other modes. So my thoughts:

The big question - Is it finding more? - haven't got a scooby as I haven't done a proper head to head test.
Am I missing anything? You'll never know unless you test but I know I'm not missing some very small stuff. Very tiny buttons at 6-8"and small fragments of copper (2-3mm) and George silver sixpence even deeper lead me to think that if it's there I'll find it.

Build wise I don't feel it's as robust as the stock coil and the coil bolt they supply is poor. We'll have to see how long it lasts. It could be just as tough but just doesn't feel that way.

Pinpointing on the Ultimate is, for me, better and more accurate whether you just scan at 90 degrees or use the pinpointer.

Weight - mine came in at 50g heavier (Coil, cover and cable) and I haven't really noticed a difference.

Depth - again, not tested head to head but it has picked up some annoying deep and disappointing buttons!

Cost - £124 inc. coil, cover and delivery - 3 days standard post.

Am I happy with it? So far yes - well until I feel like changing back to the stock coil. I do find the Ultimate a little easier to use and I can see it staying on for some time to come. Will it find me more ....haven't got a scooby.

Get the ultimate, turns the T2 from good to great with incredible depth. Buy from a reputable dealer such as Regtons.

Hi Ken, had the T2 a couple of years but not sure that's relevant. Staring settings are All Metal, sens 86, hum +1 or zero, and ground balanced.

Hi kred .Just out of curiosity ,I`d be interested as to what depth would you describe as "incredible " depths ?
and what are you finding at incredible depths ? Is it coins ,and if so, can you give any examples of which coins your referring to finding at incredible depths ?.
