Welcome to the forum Mark, I'm new here my self as well.

I'm just finding my way about and place, and it seems one of the better forums out there.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty, well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming, what a trip!

Hi ya Mark, welcome to probably the best metal detecting forum on the planet..you will always find help and sound advice on the forum.
Don't ever worry about asking for advice,even if you think it's simple, after all we all had to start at the beginning.
As for your first detector,your right not to get a complicated machine.
Two years ago I decided to give up detecting after many years and sold up all my detecting gear.
Very recently I decided to start detecting once again, and bought an all swinging and dancing machine..VERY COMPLICATED !!...so I'm having to learn all over again !!
Anyway,good luck on whatever detector you choose,and I look forward to seeing all your future notable finds.
Good hunting.. ::g .

Was worried for a minute there - a house in our village is called Hedgerley so I accidentally sent you some evil thoughts. I was worried I’d no longer be the only detectorist in the village :-SS

But you live in Slough so now I’m embarrassed rl;

=))

Hope you continue to enjoy the forum ::g
