Post by VwStu » Thu Feb 08, 2018 3:55 pm

Hi all,

New to the forum, just purchased a Garrett 300i and looking to get out ASAP.
Tried for a few permissions but no joy yet! ☹️
Are there any digs this weekend I could possibly come along to? Happy to drive just desperate to get out there!!

Thanks guys

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on the garret 330i a good model and user friendly, if you are desperate to get out and detect then maybe just ask a farmer for a field that you can detect as they are quite friendly and usually are not bothered about giving out an unused or freshly turned field.

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome.
I’m happy to knock on farmers doors etc, unfortunately they are in short demand where I am.
I have managed to speak to a couple, however they are tenants with landlords who do not want anyone on there land. One farmer even tried to help me find land, but no joy yet.
May have to attend a dig or 2, just ideally wanted something closer so I can go after work etc.

::g Hey VwStu - Welcome to the forum ...

Most of the group digs are regularly notified in Metal Detecting groups on Facebook ...

It does mean having a good look around on there to find something suitable and there is no guarantee you will find one local to you ... But it may be worth you having a look.

Have you tried looking for a club to join?

Just a reminder - If you intend joining a rally or Fb dig event, NCMD/FID membership is normally a mandatory requirement ::g Good Luck. Regards ss47

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the info, I have managed to find a couple of digs this weekend so need to ensure I get my ncmd membership sorted prior to this.

Hope to cross paths at a dig in the near future.

Thanks
Stu

Hi All,

Managed to get out a couple of times (on organised digs) which I’ve found a nice button and a few bits of trash, but it takes time get proficient.

Still looking for that first elusive permission but I’m sure it will come.

Just wondered if anyone local ish to Staines fancies a drive to a dig together or to help me learn the ropes, if a fellow newbie we can learn together.

Stu

Hi and welcome to this great Forum. Concerning permissions the key is knock on doors and ask. Yes you will be turned down but just go to the next farmer and ask again, permissions will come in time. As a matter of interest do you own a VW Campervan? All the best from East Riding.

Thanks Fubar, have no issue knocking on doors but not many round here.
Will keep trying and hopefully get some permissions soon.
I used to but recently sold it ☹️ But will get one again soon, also a beetle man as well.
