Norfolk/Suffolk border inhabitants

Post by thefiggis » Wed Oct 03, 2018 6:43 pm

What ho, all.

I noticed a while ago how many members hail from the border area and have been meaning to see if there's any interest in a meet up. I'm not presently suggesting the formation of a club (though that could be a possibility), but rather an informal get-together for a few pints in a nice pub in a central location where we can chew the cud and lie outrageously about our finds. Might be a one-off or we might make it a regular thing and make a club out of it, who knows?

Anyone interested, just post on here and we can make arrangements. Just say where you are and a suitable venue can then be agreed.

We have a quorum already ::g Let's give it a bit longer to see who else is up for it then work out a geographical midway-ish point.

Sorry for the delay. Been too busy cataloguing miwyons of finds. Yeah right.

If anyone interested in this would like to PM me their general area I'll collate them, post them here and see if we can agree a central meeting point with a decent pub.

I'll add other locations as they come in.

Ok, given the spread, it looks to me like Attleborough is the midway point.

Everyone happy with that? Anyone know of any decent boozers there?

And would you prefer to meet up before or after the Yuletide festivities?

Hello!
Well, as the one in Attleborough, I'd have to say that none of the pubs in the town are (in my opinion) particularly suited to having a meeting/chat as a group - they're a bit noisy etc. However, just outside of town (close to the roundabout where you join the A11 southbound,) is the White Lodge. It's a fairly quiet pub with decent beer and I think this would be a good venue for an initial get together. Only my opinion!! ::g

As for when - for my part, I'm not too fussed either way, although I guess it's worth saying that the closer we get to Christmas, the busier the pubs will get. But I'd be happy to fit in with whatever the majority prefers.

Hope this helps :D

Sorry all, been slacking on this again.

Ok, so the suggestion is The White Lodge , Attleborough.

As to when, a schoolday might be difficult for some, so how about a Friday or Saturday evening this month? Say, Friday 16th or Saturday 17th 7.30-8.00 pm?

If not, I'm sure we can get a date which all can make.

How about the following weekend? Either Friday 23 or Sat 24?

Thought I would throw my hat in....
I live in East Harling a little south of Attleborough and would love to join. Weekends are generally good for me on any date. Although weekday evenings are equally fine.
Lookinh forward to it!

I’m pretty much booked up for all November weekends, 1 Dec or possibly 7 Dec. Lots of Christmas and family things happening already!

More the merrier, Ashley ::g

I'll PM others who've expressed an interest but who haven't responded as yet on this thread to find out their availability. Obviously, I'd be great if we can find a date which all can make but I know from experience this rarely happens :)

Thanks for all the responses ::g

I'am normally free most weekends or weekdays but that particular weekend we are at a party so it's a no go for me.

Looks like a weekday evening might be best to me...
Weekends can always be tricky as plans are often made well in advance.

Im sure most people can spare a couple of hours one night in the week.
Gets dark so early now anyway there's not much else to do :)

Blimey, it looks like it might prove difficult to get a mutually convenient date this side of xmas so maybe we should be looking the other side - maybe mid-Jan? That'd probably give us more scope.

If you'd like to post up or PM me with your preference for midweek/weekend/either (along with any dates in January you're definitely NOT available) I'll suggest a date to suit the majority.

Sound ok?

Just to clarify I am still available at weekends.
I suspect finding a day that everyone can do isn't really going to happen.

Surely we can find a suitable day that most peopl can do in the next 2 months??
Could always open up a google calender with suggested dates that people can specify availability on.

Oh, good lord. I somehow managed to park this in a dark, dusty and rarely visited corner of me noggin and quite overlooked it. Apologies rl;

Fact is, I'm totally snowed under with stuff at the moment but if anyone would like to take it over and sort something out then please feel free.
