Post by oldhamlad » Tue Jul 18, 2017 8:39 pm

Been sitting on the Idea for a while now but when i get back from holiday in the next month or so I'm going to start a club in the oldham area for people in the surrounding and local area, just wondering if i was to make one would anyone from the forum be willing to join as its quiet in the oldham area for detecting clubs and the like?

Good luck, just make sure you share the "workload". If you have mates to start building the club around it will much easier. Start small, get some permissions and grow from there.
If you have trades you can often get landowners on board by offering mates rates/services.
Sure if you ask there are plenty will offer advice!

I did it over a year ago and its been a great success, though I do have a Treasurer who does also everything else! We now have regular Club Digs for Charity, super meeting room and fantastic members. As said, start off small and then let things grow, get to know others and what they want, a few pints in the pub on a regular basis is fine and then move on from there perhaps if numbers grow and you want to formalise things. But to be honest if that small group in the pub is good enough then don't rush ahead in an expensive way and lose that original magic.
Some good tips on here on how to go about things, good luck anyway, Liam ::g

I would also be interested in a club in Oldham

We have just started out in the hobby and been on a couple of FB rallies in Lancashire so far.

Didn't find anything of note, but enjoyed ourselves immensely and can't wait for some nicer weather to get out there again.

Please let me know if you managed to get the club up and running?

Andy
