What's the latest on this plan for a forum dig? :D

Will I? Won't I? What kind of silly question is that?

Latest - the company that has just sold me my Deus has also agreed to help in getting this Forum Dig up and running. There have been many new members on here over the past six months and so can I just let everyone know that what we need is;
Land - some landowner to agree to a group of around 20 people detecting on his ploughed field for a day and being paid £100 in return.
Pub nearby so that we have easy access to car parking, toilets, shelter and food.
It would ideally be on a Sunday as that is when people are free of work, shopping etc.
It would need to be not clashing with any local rallies.
There is a B&B in Norfolk, not far from where the Snettisham Hoard of Torcs were found, that has agreed to secure some land for us if we have a group staying with them in Autumn and I am off over there soon to check out what land will be available.
It is also planned to incorporate the day with a guest speaker and machines demo/sale.
I am happy for the Forum Dig to be run ANYWHERE, so get in touch if you can help out with the land.
Top of my priority list and I will keep everyone updated, Liam ;)

I thought we had a plan worked out, remember? Send Linda up to the farmers door, all glammed up and full of charm and tact, you wait in the car, let Linda do her bit and then you have one million acres! Liam B-)

Put me down as interested Liam. Would be willing to stump up a reasonable sum of groats. Be good to have a laugh and pick up tips from you experienced pepes and maybe find metal other than decimals.

Things are moving along as one of our members has a farmer who is ok with us arriving for a Sunday do and lots of land. Now waiting for confirmation re all that and then looking at possible Sunday dates that do not clash with rallies. The location is NW, so not good news for southerners, but we may have permission to camp on the Sat evening, some local amenities like loos and a pub, who could ask for more? =))
I will post updates as they come through, a long way for me from Norwich but now and then its good to meet up, share some detecting yarns, listen to a guest speaker, get out on some good land, try out a few strange machines, have some good food and a decent pint, make new friends and then be able to put names to faces on the forum, Liam ;)

Hi N&P, I hope so, waiting for a forum member to check things out with his farmer re the best access times for later this year, other options are also possible and I really HAVE to get this Dig up and running and completed. Just in case there are others out there who have some land that we could use for a day, get in contact with me for a chat, Liam B-)

Hello

I would consider comming if the distance is not too many hours car travel, thing I find with detecting is returning knackered after a long session.

Cheers

Steven
