Anyone know how yesterday afternoon / today went ?

The swapped Monday to Sunday field didn't seem so productive yesterday morning. Wondering if today's field was any better ?

YEP that was a great executive decision to keep people safe better to keep the traffic down to a minimum and give it time to dry out which it did throughout the day and everyone could leave the field with no incidents WELL DONE LIAM for getting it right =D> =D> =D>

Myself and Stephen attended the Saturday and I must thank and congratulate Liam, Laura and Paul for the immense amount of work they have all put in behind the scenes to make everything fall into place!!
I think I'm right in saying that liam clocked over 1200 miles whilst helping to organise the dig, hats off to you Mr Nolan.

Also met some great people, Sugar... you are a legend and thanks for the feed!!!

Thanks again....

hi all,
just like to say a big well done to all involved in the forum dig,
It was good to meet some really great people,......... and gatekeeper :D
All started bad for us as jim left his dector at home c' , remembered 20 miles out of Norwich.
I did not have to much luck in the field as i was saving my luck for the raffle, 18 prizes for me and jim, i dared not get one for the france trip as i would be beaten to death with pro pointers if i had won s;.. glad we put some prizes in.
made some new friends and will see more of them in the field soon.
Must have been tired on the way home, Jim wanted to stop and speak to a guy detecting in a field,
it was a scarecrow :D :D
Thanks again to those who made this possible,

Just to let everyone know that there will be another Forum Dig in 2013 along the same lines as the 2012 one, located right in the middle of the UK, VERY roman, just off the Fosseway, probably the BH weekend again, depends on crops, LOTS and LOTS of land, mostly undetected, camping as before. I have met the farmer and agreed things in principle.
I won't release any more info at the moment for obvious reasons, Liam ::g

Hi all, too early to start an attendance list, kits nearly a year away, just wanted to let you know that the groundwork has been done and nearer the time I will look at how many we can have and how many days etc. I will lock it off for now as the 2012 event has been and gone.
Later on I will create the 2013 Forum Dig topic, but I hope we can have some other informal digs before too long anyway, Liam ::g :;@

Hi all, up at 5am yesterday and off over to some land near the Fosseway to meet up with a group of us who are organising the 2013 Forum Dig. Laura and her Dad Walt also made the trip down from the Sheffield area. It was touch and go for actually reaching there as the flood waters had made many local roads impassable and very dangerous. Good job I had my snorkel and flippers!
More details to be sorted out but the undetected land that will be available in 2013 is enormous and very promising. We then had a few hours out on some other land a few miles away and between the five of us I think we grabbed around 14 nice romans, plus about 10 other coins. The stubble was mostly covered in water, wettest I have ever detected on.
By 2.30pm we departed and made our way up to Barkby Thorpe in Leics, to hand over the monies raised ffrom the 2012 Forum Dig. Over £1600 was presented to Tom Pick and his mum, the original landowners and who became friends to everyone who attended the Dig, wonderful people. The money is being split between a prostate cancer charity, a charitable trust for underprivileged children to give them a few days holiday on a farm and an orphanage in Malawi.
Laura will be arriving soon with some pics of the cash handover, but I would like to say a BIG thanks to everyone who supported the Forum Dig, especially the many kind members who could not attend but who dug deep in the pockets to donate cash or prizes, well done to each and every one of you. Our only outlay was the cost of the portaloo and every other penny went in the hat. We will be announcing details of the 2013 Forum Dig around March/April, too soon yet to accept applications, but we hope to have the same August Bank Holiday and the same camping arrangements. Thanks to Laura and Walt for the enormous help behind the scenes and for the many, many laughs that always helps make a task that much easier, Liam ::g :;@

Well done liam, nothing like good preperation! It's great to hear we raised so much money! I'm sure the 2013 will live up to the 2012 one!

I can't wait for it!
