Hi Guys,

I had a great time at the dig, meeting some really funny people, (funny ha ha, not funny weird (apart from Greg ;) )). I learned more about my detector and about field detecting (I usually detect the Thames), so it was very helpful and immensely enjoyable. In way of finds, I had a silver sixpence in the first few hours so I was feeling optimistic, but apart from buttons and lead, that was it for Saturday, despite an old looking decorative tip of some sort. On the Sunday I found a knife/dagger, not very old, but it was about 4 inches deep right by the river, so I think it's been there some time, but not that old seeing it had electrical tape on it, but interesting none-the-less, and is the name RAVI or RAUL an inscription or manufacturer? Also, I was chuffed to bits to win a year's sub to TH magazine. Thanks to Liam, Paul and Laura for organising! I actually can't wait til the next one!

I agree Greg, but its all down to getting land at the right time. Farmers don't hang about anymore and when a field is cropped, it will be a matter of weeks before the new crop is seeded.
Proper ploughing is becoming a thing of the past and direct drilling into the stubble is whats happening, the stubble just dragged over.
Anyone out there with around 70+ acres that we could use, please get in touch and we can start to plan things. Liam ::g :;@

I think I was there when it happened, was it the one along the bottom edge of the first rolled field.

Haha the 3rd video is Patrick. He was next to use in the field and was my partner in crime for nail finding !

Liam I think the farmer's wife from he original field may be still quite keen. She came and talked to me on the Sunday and was saying they wouldn't be ready till next year now. Didn't get the impression it was a complete no go :-)

Really pleased for you with that hammy. Thought it was hilarious when you explained why your username is paddlerb, that you wanted it to be just paddler and the b got accidentally added on to make it paddlerb =)) Glad you got your machine sorted out as well, would have been a disaster, Liam ::g
