FORUM DIG 2014 - DONE!!

Post by liamnolan » Wed May 28, 2014 3:07 pm

Hi all, on the way back to Norwich from a site visit to Beeby in Leics where I have agreed the land and dates for this years MDF Dig. It will be undetected light stubble about one mile from the 2012 Dig. Then we did not have many exciting finds, even though we have several romano villa sites all around us, so I am hoping that this new land will produce more. Glen did find a brilliant Celtic mount though, some romans came up and also some hammies, plus some decent brooches.
Beeby - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beeby" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Something these events will always produce is lots of new friends, a great chance for us all to meet up ::g
Sat 18th October 2014 - 55 acres field - max number 45
Sun 19th October 2014 - (across the road) 30 acres field + the 55 acres field from Sat. max number 45
YOU NEED TO HAVE CURRENT NCMD OR FID INSURANCE.
October may be dry or wet, we will have to wait and see, but camping/caravanning is allowed, hard standing for cars if needed, water supply nearby. Portaloo is to be on site from Friday afternoon.
Both fields have an ancient brook/river running alongside, two fields from a villa site.
Cost will be £15 per day - non refundable - this secures your place.
I can give everyone a 100% guarantee that every penny raised will go to a Hospice charity, the only expense will be a portaloo and that will be discounted. http://www.loros.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Google Beeby/Barkby area for accommodation, pubs ... its a very quiet area!
Anyone interested in attending this event simply post on here and I will regard that as an application. This is just for our own valued forum members and any place taken has to have a username against it, so please don't request staterfinder + 1 etc.
We have 12 hrs of daylight in October, dark around 6.30pm, barbies are ok as long as care is taken and Liam will need to sample the food for H&S reasons ...
I will keep amending this first topic to add more info .. plus ongoing list of attenders.

Hi Liam,
Love to take part but too far for me. Hope it goes well for everyone.
Sounds an excellent location for the majority of forum members with plenty of history nearby.
Cheers Tony

Thanks Tony, its a long way from some members and thats the reason why we chose Dorset in 2013 to help the SW members, but the 2012 place in Leics was a super time and many members wanted to return there. There may be some SW members travelling up and you could get a lift, camping is ok there and maybe even the odd evening drink or two ... Liam =))

Friday night arrival is fine, bring your tent etc and find a good place. We had a nice BBQ going last time ... plus the odd drink or two ... wheres Greg? =))
