Looks interesting, particularly the Roman roads all heading towards the river Severn - has to be some history of international trade there, as suggested in the write-up. Any indication from the landowner / LGD as to how much the site has already been detected?

Too far for me to drive for one day, but there's a very good (and surprisingly inexpensive) camp site a mile from the village, with the pub right next door - I'm in :)

For anybody camping and making a weekend of it, or where "the other half" is not interested in detecting, here are two options right on the doorstep - both of which I would recommend

The Wetlands Centre, perfect for anybody interested in birds and now extra things to keep the kids interested.

Berkeley Castle, which has lots of history. Not least the sad demise of Edward II, the thought of that poker still brings tears to my eyes x;

Unfortunately neither are dog friendly.

We need more places like the Cotswold Wildlife Park ..... A really great place for everyone with two legs or four legs ::g

As you say Saffron - there are many attractions that could make the event even better - you can often make a great weekend out of a one day dig with just a little research or knowledge of the area.

In view of the write up on this location I might well also dig out the old hazel twigs and try a bit of dowsing :)

Any reports of finds from the previous LGD dig, TF?
