Iam sure that we will be going if all goes to plan.

This will be our third trip to the Detecting events in the area.

Each time our WHRADA group have had a really enjoyable time. ::g Jerry.

You can book camping when you buy the tickets for the event - the option comes up during the booking process - spaces are apparently limited on site, but there are many other campsites etc. reasonably nearby.

I am sure everyone will have a good time, but it doesn't do anything from, so I shall give it a miss.

I wonder if Minelab will release the much talked about Equinox there this year? I hear it could be quite special ::g rl;

So Detectival doesn't get you going BM - I feel bit like a lamb to the slaughter now - I'm just as interested in the social aspect as the prospect of finding summat good (unlikely) - the craic, booze and music should make it worthwhile :) Sod the bouncy castles and the detector salesmen - will steer well clear of them:)

Never been but considering it......have only done one rally and enjoyed it to be fair, not on the same scale as detectival mind.

Had thought about going, but its not for me alas, much prefer a small club dig environment or detecting by myself,of course its become the 'in thing' these days, the last 2 big rallies i went on was the 'Catherine Parr' and the Wragby' ones back in 2006 i think it was and only because i got 2 free tickets that i had won.

Of course all those that are going i wish them luck.

Do you need to buy a ticket just to peruse the trade tents and buy something you didn’t know you needed? I’ve no intention of visiting the search sites, swinging a stick, partaking of ale or engaging in any other merriment just looking for an hour of retail therapy. I emailed this question to the organisers but thus far no reply.

Are you allowed to sleep in your car at these rallies?

Yes you can sleep in car, still have to pay camping fee though.

I believe you can go as a guest of someone who has paid if you intend not to detect. It’s in their terms and conditions in the spectators/ non-detectorists section . One adult guest per paid detectorist.

I was also tempted to go down just to look at all the trade stands too as i’m not that far away :D

That's as they explained it to me OG, I think there was a £5 fee as well if you’re a guest which isn’t a lot of money. Unfortunately just chipping up on your loansome to browse the trade stands and lighten your wallet is not catered for ;;z which on the plus side has saved me some money ::g

If you have 200 "guests" over a weekend its £1,000.
Rather odd that non detecting guests aren`t just allowed in to shop for the benefit of the dealers really.

This is the reply from the organisers when I asked the question:

Thank you for your email, as it is predominately a metal detecting event we do not sell tickets for attendi ng the trade stands only, however, if you know anyone who is going you could attend with that paying detecting attendee as their guest, which would only be a £5 guest fee for you to enter. I hope that helps.

Reading between those lines you have got to go with the paying detecting attendee, presumably in the same car. Shame but as thems the rules...

Reviving this thread! Who's going?

I've bought my ticket for the weekend and hope to get a few more practice days in on a mate's land before heading. Still not finding anything but junk but very possibly looking in all the wrong places.
