Must admit i could well be tempted on this one, need to check if i can make it 1st before i pay,any indication on how much land is available and also what type of fields the dig is on ie pasture, seeded, stubble etc ??

Will probably make the final decision either tomorrow or tuesday morning.

No more info but I believe it has a good reputation. Don’t hang around though you can only get tickets by post :((

I totally agree with you that i am cutting it fine, but its a reasonable distance to travel and find out some of the possible nightmares that can occur with rallies/digs,as soon as i hear about how much land is available then the final decision will be made.

I've looked at the previous forum reports and the general consensus is that its a very well organised event ::g ::g ::g OooO . Just a bit far for me to travel, though it is in "my neck of the woods" from days gone by.

And where I am it looks even worse so it might be difficult getting out of the village. Fingers crossed the forecast improves :-w

Its sad, but I can see other detecting events for Sunday having weather problems. :(

If these type of charity events have to be cancelled perhaps re-runs can be arranged.? ;)

Happy Hunting,

Jerry.

Well, i am within an hour proximity to Swindon as the crow flies and its snowing here
At the last count we had 18 flakes that settled, Lidl and Tesco have been stripped of Bread and Milk, the roads are closed, trains cancelled and the national grid is under maximum pressure at present

:-w I can assure you, having just checked the operational reports for the control room for both the gas and electricity networks this morning, that they are both green with no current or forecasted issues. Now the distribution companies, who have given our village 4 power cuts in the last 10 days, will however probably be unpacking their sticking tape and glue as we speak. They fall over here with a few puffs of wind so god help us if it snows and is windy ;)

Kevin I’ve put my coils on charge just in case. I’ve still not forgotten the last dig with you and Bob in the driving sleet :(( Whilst I have invested in better thermal trousers there are parts of my body I would like not to freeze off so I too will be watching the forecast with trepidation h;@

Snow in the early hours of the morning

-3 and 38 mph wind. It's going to feel like -10

It's going to feel very very cold. Brrrrrrrrrr.

Been climbing in worse but it very close to my limit.

Good look to anyone going. Full face windproof balaclava, duvet coat and insulated gloves.

Me thinks

If the temperature gets below -10 there should be a money back guarantee, or better still a free hot toddy, on the hour ... every hour :)) :)) :))

Good luck to everybody that is going, I hope you are rewarded for braving the conditions.

Make sure you wear suitable clothing, and if it gets too bad there is no shame in packing up early.

I am about an hour away and about 8 o'clock this evening it was snowing, only light fine stuff but it was settling.

Dig I could have been on tomorrow has been cancelled. So I suggest everybody intending to go to an organised dig checks it out before starting out from home in the morning.

Evan

Staying put on my little barge. The river looks lovely ::g

Didn’t get an email though so thank you JBM. I’m sure we’d all be very grateful if you could also share the new dig info when you get it ::g

Hi OG,

If I hear any further news, I will let you know, another charity Rally has been cancelled in the midlands area.

Its such a shame as so much work goes into arranging these events.

Its still snowing hard in our area of Bristol as I tap this out.

Even tail wagger through a look with his big brown eyes, said "Bugger that" I will hang on for a while.

Jerry.
