Weather watch for the weekend - -

Friday - looks like it will be a great afternoon - dry with plenty of sun - so good for setting up tents and partying.
Saturday - We're going to get a little wet, so bring water-proofs, wellies - and don't forget to protect control boxes of non-waterproof machines.
Sunday - Same as Saturday - but that's OK, I'll be home by then :D

u;@ That's a good heads-up from Shaggybfc, It looks as if the biggest potential drawback will be heavy winds so time to consider the possible need to double-up or reinforce tent guy ropes and tie downs and perhaps take a few extra tent pegs. See y'all there ::g ::g

I'm sure after about 20 mins of searching we'll all have more tent pegs then we'll know what to do with. :D

Oh well the great British weather again.

Nothing that a few bacon rolls and coffee will not sort out.

It will be an early call that morning to get there for the start.

See some of you on parade on the Saturday.

Good point, So from hereon, you're appointed keeper of the 'Found Tent-Peg Pool' :D

Sub Note: On being granted this distinguished appointment (but subject to approval)
there's a possibility that there may be an additional Jelly Bean entitlement commensurate with said appointment. However, as intimated, protocols require that such decisions lie directly in the hands of Blackadder43 - (The Jelly Bean controller). Regards ss47

Currently blowing a gale here, less than 30 miles from the site, and it made me wonder what the forecast for the weekend was so thanks for saving me having to look .... shame its not a bit more conductive to camping and detecting, but hey ho thats the British weather.
At least not so destructive as the typhoon which hit the Philippines with such devestating results. :((

Two positives, firstly with a forecast like that I can head back home for the nights and enjoy a comfortable bed rather a windblown tent, and secondly my permissions are still like rock so need 6" of rain to make them detectable.

Now raining less than 30 miles from site.

My gound also on the Cotswolds is like rock, and near impossible to dig, do we know what this site is?. I am hoping its disked ground after a corn crop because if its pasture it will be very hard going!.

Just answered my own question by looking at the Rodney Cook Memorial Charity Detecting Weekender Facebook page.

Looks to be a lot of very nicely disked ground, with some other fields of stubble and pasture.

When they did a recce of the site a few days ago they found what a looks like Roman tiles and pottery. So it all looks very promising.

Shame the draw was not done in the other order with the top prizes first :D

Then I would have had a nice pinpointer and Oxgirl a cap to go with her machine. I wonder if I can persuade her to do a swap :)) :)) :)) :))

If not I will have to get some tape and cover the name on it, as armoury consists of 4 machines, Garret, Makro and Minelab x 2. So cap is obviously better suited to Oxgirl.

Same here :) Just need to remember to put it all in the car.

Afraid I've chickened out of camping though and booked a hotel due to the weather forecast - it's not easy to dry out a wet tent in my flat!

I have managed to make 4 of the previous MDF rallies but unfortunately I can't make this meet up due to caring for a family member.

Have a great time everyone and I hope you all have some great finds and I look forward to seeing some of them on the forum when you get back.

Just a word of advice for you first timers, if you run into an Irish gent called Liam and he starts talking to you then turn off your detector and save your batteries as you will be there for a while :))
