I new control layout and a move away from the yellow casing wouldn't have gone a miss.

Yeah the bright yellow doesn't help it's cause. The top 2 are meant to come with box covers (black with yellow Garrett logo) though so I guess you could cover it up. Not seen the armcups but assume they'd be yellow too.

Nice one, I have never owned one, but seen some good stuff come up with them, you always seem to get a lot of detector for your money with Garrett, on a lighter note, I am sure they would sell more if they dropped the yellow colour though :D

Yellow equals less easy to stand on or leave behind.

Still possible though.

Just detected till it went dark. Black stylish coils are over rated white was much better at seeing in low light. Doesn't get so hot in the sun. Are well that's progress.

if they come with control box covers, does that mean none are waterproof

Not sure how anyone can forget to take their detector back home with them based on its colour. I think that's more a matter of the level of mental competence. =))

I'm surprised no manufacturers have chosen to use any clear plastics for control box housings so far, I think things look quite good when you can see the guts of the electronics. Would make a different option.

The AT pro is still the only one that's waterproof. These new ones aren't.

Interesting thread.

Its a tough market out there these days as more and more machines hit the market place.

I watch with interest.

Happy Hunting. Jerry.

I notice that all the American versions say "IRON" while the international versions say "FERROUS".
Also the "FERROUS" sections seems larger than the "IRON" sections.

I have always taken ferrous to mean contains iron (dictionary confirms this) so wonder why the difference in terminology?. Is there a difference in the two meanings in MD terms, or is "ferrous" to hard for Americans to understand?

As an ACE 250 user the "identifications" (ferrous / foil / gold /silver) seem more sensible than the current 250 with the US coins on.

Also wonder if, in the medium / long term, these are in addition to the 150 / 250 or intended as replacements.

These new models look very interesting, and appear to have some nice improvements especially the numeric target ID. I wonder if they will increase the distance between the arm cup and grip, this has always been a concern for many owners.

Frequency adjustment may have tempted me,but not being waterproof will not tempt me to upgrade my Euroace, for numerical id l would be looking at higher end machines maybe anyway.Sorry was hopeful for better when they were first mentioned. ,':|

I think the frequency options are interesting but as for number id this is more geared for the US markets as relying on numbers is a sure way to miss loads of stuff in the UK.

Be interesting to read some reviews of the 400i, as the price is no more than the 250 was originally.
