Magnifying....

Post by Richdebtomdom » Sun Apr 15, 2018 7:33 pm

I know this may have been mentioned before and it’s a bit obvious but...

If I need to magnify anything I photograph it with my iPhone and use the image to zoom in...

The photo app allows you to change the colour-even Black and white which does bring out features not visible in white light...

I’ve managed to ID a few things with this technique...

On my android I use Magnifier from the app store. I use a beer can or pint glass the put the phone on and then zoom in from there.

If you have an iPhone, simply press the home button quickly 3 times in succession.
You now have a magnifier with zoom capability.

For a mere tenner or so, the Aukey clip-on lenses (a set of macro, fish-eye and wide-angle) are surprisingly good.

I had a hammered at the weekend that appeared to have a cross where the pellets should be, even when looking through a magnifying glass. Once I had used the manual photography software, then re-sized and re-toned, I could see it was actually the wear on the pellets, no cross at all.

Pretty amazing what you can do with a camera phone these days.
