Just need someone with a soldering iron by the sounds of it. Should be an easy repair if it's the plug end. Different story altogether if its at the coil end though.

Hope you get fixed up soon.

I remember that a recent poster with a similar damaged coil cable, had total success by taking it to a 'phone repair shop'. As they are seemingly numerous, it may be worth following-up.

There is an important point to consider if, as I suspect, it becomes necessary to cut a section out of the cable outer to affect the repair. The inner wires are usually wrapped in a metallic grid screen binding, it's essential that this is not damaged in the process, otherwise the detector is liable to be adversely affected by external interference. Good Luck - Regards ss47

Cheers for reply both of you i think its at plug end near control housing so a solder iron is on list this week, good coil though goes very deep, so well worth fixing

The other obvious thing to remember is that you can't cut too much cable off. Otherwise you'll be having to detect on your knees! :D
