A guide to attaching photos on the forum

Post by Blackadder43 » Thu Feb 15, 2018 9:38 pm

So, you want to attach a photo using the MDF forum as the host for your photo.

Firstly make sure your picture is within the site’s maximum size limits.
Maximum size permitted is 600 pixels (width) x 850 pixels (height) and the actual file size of the image cannot exceed 300kb.

There are various free resizing apps available on the web, such as picresize. A guide to resizing can be found here

Open a new thread (or click reply to an existing thread).
Write your text in the text box and then click "Attachments".

Then, click "Add files" and find your photo on your PC and click ok to upload it.

Then, click "Preview" to make sure the photo has attached correctly and is the correct one.

Remember you can only post 4 pictures directly onto the MDF each day.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Hi BA, No probs with image dimensions but 300kb, what luxury if only I could? I am quite familiar with image resizing etc but my PC must still be working on old time because 150kb still gets the "file too big", so I have to work to 149kb or less as ever which is no prob but am just curious about the new proclaimed 300kb image size. So not actually noticed any changes at all.
Basically if my image is say 590 X 400 pixels and 150kb I cannot upload it. But 149kb and no probs, so what is this 300kb all about?. :D

Easylife I really have no idea why you are having this issue. I’ve raised it with the other mods and we’ll get back to you tomorrow once we’ve had a look ::g

Thanks OG, It is not an issue for me but just wondered why it seemingly works differently for some?

Interesting. I misread something and have been posting photos reduced to just below 650 pixels wide without any problem. :D

Would be so much more accessible if you could add more than one picture with your iPhone. I’m already on a ‘list of people who don’t follow rules’ because of that! I don’t have a pc and I get excited to get an id. Havnt put anything up since as I don’t want to be banned x;

I had loads of problems trying to send images but Oxgirl recommended the Free Online Picture resizing which is dead simple to follow and although limited to 4no photos , I find this is enough for me .
I am not at all computer savvy as I have no patience for technology , hence my love of switch and go metal detectors !
The free online service is straightforward and easy to follow the basic step by step guide which allows you to crop all images and as long as you use the correct pixel size and custom image , you cant go wrong .

Hi
I upload mine from an iPhone
And use an app called image size-
works a treat.
It’s free if you don’t mind the odd advert coming up .
