New XP S telescopic stem lite

Post by Oxgirl36 » Wed Oct 31, 2018 10:16 pm

It looks like XP will be ofering a new, redesigned S stem that provides a further weight reduction and is suitable for the XP ADX, Deus and Goldmaxx machines.

It’s coming out in November and will cost £109.

No idea how much lighter but I’m sure more info will trickle through in due course. It was mention on the last XP America video a couple of weeks ago.

Not sure that I would want anything lighter. It needs to at least feel like you're holding something! :D

I am just guessing it’s the same as the stem that comes on the ORX.

As someone who likes to keep their detector nice and clean The thing what puts me off this is the open sides on the part of the stem that sits under your forearm. Despite the coil and cuff hopefully keeping this clear of the mud I can’t help seeing this as a mud trap :D

I'm all for innovation and progress and no doubt the lighter stem will benefit some but for me it's like re-inventing the wheel. Expensively, at that.
Essential equipment:
Some sort of electrical gubbins(I'm told it's a Deus). In various colours

I think the new stem was born from a cost cutting initiative to help bring the overall cost down of the depar 600 and now the ORX.

I concur.
It feels a bit like they are floundering, what with this onx machine as well.
The Deus is a fantastic machine, if they really need to boost sales, reduce it's price and stop being greedy.

The market says the Deus is too expensive now in relation to the competence of the mid range competitors.

Coming up with a lighter stem and a cut down version of the Deus I feel won't cut it.

If its 7.8oz less than the original stem then that is a big decrease when your swinging it for 5 hours.

It could make the difference between feeling like doing another 5 hours detecting the following day or staying at home resting [:) so cutting weight off the machine will increase time in the field and increase your finds :))

so 7.8 oz's is going to give you 5 hours more detecting and increase in finds, am not so sure about that their is no certainty in this hobby in my view its just luck.

if the new s stem is based on the orx the top open stem will in time fill those gaps with dirt/mud etc, this then will base extra weight back on and more cleaning afterwards so no gains just more ££ for nothing.basically an bad design on xp side and i think they are running out of idea's.
