Using headphone lead the wrong way round?

Post by egon999 » Mon Mar 10, 2014 1:48 pm

Hello everyone
I've just bought a set of MAZ headphones and an adaptor so they can be used wuith my ATPRO.
I've noticed a significant difference in volume depending on which way round I use the lead.
Also one end of the lead sems to make less of a contact than the other, and I've had to reach up and press it home on the earphones once or twice to get the sound back
On examination the ends of the leads are different. They are 1/4 inch plugs, but one seems to have an extra band on it. I don't think its the headphones, as with the 'good' end of the lead in place they still work with the plug half out
I'd appreciate any opinions before I ring regtons
Many thanks
::g

a single band on the jack plug is mono-double stereo ::g
normally if you put a stereo plug in a mono socket you would have to pull it halfway out for it to make a connection and work

Thanks Mole. So it is correct for the volume to be higher with it one way round from the other?

is either the machine mono or the headphones mono ? or is there a stereo/mono switch on the headphones? if not i cant understand why you have a mono to stereo lead. if the tector gives out mono thats obviously where you plug the mono end or vice versa
