Wireless headphones choices.

Post by Jason5223 » Sun Mar 16, 2014 9:55 am

I was out yesterday and sadly damaged my TDK WR700 headphones beyond repair. The long and short of it is somehow I managed to break the pin off on the transmitter unit that plugs into the speaker socket.
These are great headphones and I have had no issues with them whatsoever apart from one downside. When I first got them I briefly lost the transmitter (found it in a pocket in the end)
This prompted me to call TDK to see if in the event of loss or damage if it is possible just to buy a transmitter unit from them. Their reply was NO. It appears that each headset is tuned to its transmitter so if the transmitter is lost or damaged that's the end of the whole set.

So as the worst happened yesterday I'm looking for a new pair of wireless headphones and I'm just wondering what everyone else is using at the moment.

Any help of advice would be great.

Ta. Jason

They're repairable Jason. ::g I done exactly the same thing & my mate wired the transmitter with a 1/4" jack plug. It was a blessing in disguise! ::g

I'll put a pic up in a mo ::g

Now that is interesting A. I think having a short cable with the plug on the end is a great idea. Just need to find someone who can do it for me as I'm useless at things like this.
Cheers A. Great idea ::g

It's a far superior set-up with the sturdy 1/4" jack plug Jason.....snapping the little plug off was definitely a blessing in disguise. :)) ::g

My local maplins are not interested in repairs but I do have a local PC repair shop that will do it.

I would try it myself but I think it would end like this

Ok, ok!!! Enough already!!! I've just ordered some. :D B-)
I've been putting it off for ages, but with 2 threads on the front page of MDF about wireless headphones, it had to happen sooner or later. The one thing that annoys me when detecting, is the headphone wires, so hopefully these will make for a happy Doyley! ;)

Cheers for the info gents!

Mark

Loving that idea, mate!

Look out for my next post asking 'Who sells replacement silver cleats for these headphones as I broke mine...' :))

Well done doyley. You won't regret it. I have just bought another pair so if I can get the other transmitter sorted out I will have a spare pair ::g

Jason, if you could let me know what colour shirt you're wearing on Sunday, please, so I don't clash. Two big blokes wearing the same headphones, similar coloured shirts and wandering found a field together, could give people the wrong impression. .. rl;
