Blaupunkt 112 Comfort wireless headphones

Post by beaubrummell » Sat Oct 18, 2014 1:13 pm

Hi all

Got a pair of these today and I can verify that there is no lag. Good solid build quality and they run on 2 AAA batteries. The round transmitter is charged via USB cable and in the field lasts about 5 - 6 hours. I can only vouch for the Minelab Explorer II of course but I believe a few other forum members use them too with other machines.

Got mine second hand on a certain auction site for an amazing £6.50. As new condition. Very lucky.

Did you not wonder why they were only £6.50. Somebody said theres no lag. Did you try air testing a coin across your coil at the normal speed you detect. No lag, lol, bet there is.

No there's not Tony. They were not sold for a Buy Now price of £6.50. I was merely the highest bidder. The seller had sold several pairs (some of which sold for £20 plus). I just got lucky that at £6.50 I was the highest bidder for my particular pair.

I've read previous posts of yours where you dismiss out of hand the possibility that these and other wireless headphones have no lag, even though forum members are telling you they don't. Bluetooth headphones apparently have a lag but these are not Bluetooth.

I've air tested and used them in the field and with my swing speed there is no lag.

PS My swing speed compared to others I've seen I would describe as average.

I had a pair of these for my Euroace about a year ago and they were great. If there indeed was a lag, I did not notice it. I had to bin them because I dropped them on the floor and theybroke. I may get another pair for my AT Pro. If they work well I will let you know Roamingrob ::g :D
They are digital, not bluetooth and you got a bargain there as they retail at around £100-£125 from the manufacturer.

Very interesting. Would love a pair for my Xterra 705?!. May wait and see if others use them so i can build up a better picture of what they are like. I think Tony is involved at some level in a new wireless head phones design which sounds very promising!

I've used TDK WR700 wireless headphones on my old Xterra 705 without any problems, they have a tiny lag which I found made no difference to my detecting.

BTW Tony mentioned the wireless headphones on the minelab forum nearly 2 years ago, and still no sign.

I had some for my xterra a while back and they had the smallest lag of all the wireless phones I could find. Think it was something like 0.3 of a second which isn't really noticeable on an average swing speed. Coupled with the build quality there seem a decent set of phones.

Can't find info on these to do with holding up the the UK weather. Are these water-resistant, waterproof or weather proof at all please? :-/
I'm assuming they're none of the above, but surely some of you go out when it's raining and want something that you don't have to worry about getting damaged so how are they holding up for you.

Funny you should say that HHS. I've gone back to my wired headphones in the field, not because the Blaupunkt's didn't work (they worked great with no lag I could notice), but I was worried how rugged they would be over time. Muddy gloves taking them on and off, dampness in the air etc etc.

They are are not specifically built for outdoor use so now I use them indoors to bop around the house listening to Benny Goodman (Yes I'm that old !!).

Ok cheers for the info beaubrummell. I'm going to go down the DIY route again I think as I can't find anything that is wireless, lag-free with any sort of weatherproof-ing-ness(-a diddly ;) ) rating. I'm amazed at the lack of options out there. x;

Ordered the ones in this thread:
http://www.metaldetectingforum.co.uk/vi ... 51&t=70279" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Which I'll modify with better speakers if possible and slap a lipo battery in there. And shove it all inside a pair of ear defender type things like I did for my Deus ones, as linked in my sig below. ::g

Will put up a thread once I've got around to modifying the bits and let people know how bad or average they might be. Not expecting miracles as it'll all come in under about £12, but should suffice for a weatherproof, wireless beach headphone set. ::g

I have a pair of those £3.50 headphones and there really is no lag whatsover, and believe I'm very sensitive to any lag!

I've had mine apart already as I've conclude that in standard form they are too fragile to stand up to the rigours of field use, they are even more fragile inside so I will look forward to your attempts to modify them, and hopefully it will inspire me to do the same once I get some ideas, one thing I will say however is the wire that acts as an aerial is very sensitive to the movement between the transmitter and the headset, ie the signal fades and returns when sweeping the detector, this is mildly irritating rather than a deal breaker, perhaps this could be cured?
