possible military use??

Post by smudge.g » Wed Jun 06, 2018 8:57 pm

Found this pretty heavy brass/copper object on pasture with the Deus at 8Khz. Some friends suggested possible grapeshot but I really have no clue but a few military finds dating to early 1800s have also come from the same field, as well as Georgian coppers and musket balls. Any ideas guys?

I’m sure I’ve seen something like that before and it had something to do with cannon shot.
Nice unusual find. One to put in the ‘maybe’ box.

Look under cannon grape shot and images......there's different make ups of the ball...in 3s etc on top of each other....and maybe just corroded together like that over the years ... :-/

I don't think it is 'cannon' related. Grape-shot (naval) or case-shot/canister (land) was cast iron.

Would say this is more domestic than military.
