This was the "Deus" of the 70's .. some great finds were made, followed later by the 130 which never really took off. Hope you get a repair done, hopefully a simple bit of soldering ... Nigel Ingram at Regtons will be my first port of call, he knows EVERYTHING :D
Good luck, Liam OooO

Didn't an Arado feature heavily towards the end of the last episode of the detectorist?

Might have to watch it again and check one of the best ending to a TV series.

Hope your detector is up and running soon.

Yes Koala, a 120b I believe. It was ''Garfunkel's'' machine (of the 'Simon & Garfunkel' pair) and they got together and tried each others out.

My Arado developed a constant audio output which couldn't be altered via the tuning or sensitivity control. I bought it new about 1982 so at 35 yrs, it was getting on a bit! Pentechnics (Dave) was my first port of call to see if a service/repair was available but I was told they no longer repaired Arado machines. The difficulty is that the main PCB and all it's ancillary components, are contained within a sealed block of wax, being a deliberate strategy by Arado to foil would be 'deconstructors' attempts to copy the 'technology'. So it was a case of check all accessible connections and components and take it from there.

I re-soldered all accessible joints to eliminate 'dry joint syndrome' (normally visible as a dull grey solder joint instead of a bright/shiny one) and replaced the controls new ones of identical value.
It was to no avail as the fault lay within the sealed wax block!

So I hope the fault with yours turns out to be a simple fix. With that in mind, I wish you a happy outcome, please keep us informed. Good Luck ::g Regards ss47

My old boss bought me one as a christmas present ,i never got on with it and went back to my c scope 3300.
I sold it on .
Anyway what will be the biggest problem in repair is the old foil capacitors they most probably will be far out of range or shorted now ,you may get it working but i doubt it will work as good as it did back then
