What Has Happened to My Pinpointer?

Post by detectorman5050 » Thu Apr 19, 2018 10:36 pm

I've got a cheap pinpointer made by Intey. I was doing some beach detecting with it today. At the end of the day both lights on it started consecutively, and it also vibrated in unison with the lights.

It still can detect metal, but whilst constantly blinking is now effectively useless. Any ideas what is wrong with it? Could it have been I got water in it?

Thanks.

Humidity it's possible. Bad sealing maybe (I'm not an expert). One day in grain rice to absorb humidity (if that is the case) and turn it back on to see.

It might be just the battery that needs replacing?

@RomGoss, it might be water has got in, but I imagined that would totally fry it?

@Easylife, at first I thought it was the battery, but it had a new one put in only days ago. I also put the battery on my tongue, and it was still pretty strong. :P

Try with another battery (whose you are sure it's full).

"but I imagined that would totally fry it?"

my metal detector had taken water unintentionally one time (not directly), the connectors where oxidized, the screen HS, the detector was ringing. Just not much for it no longer works.

I can report that my pinpointer is now working again. I removed the battery, and placed it behind a warm radiator for 1 hour.

I can only presume that water got into it. I am happy now, as I couldn't really afford a new one at this moment. ::g
