Makro Pinpointer or Nokta Pinpointer

Post by 4bleepssake » Wed Apr 25, 2018 12:35 pm

Hi all.
I wonder if anyone can offer some advise please.
I'm looking to get a pinpointer....obviously there's a few out there ! I've seen the Nokta & Makro pinpointers on the MDF shop, there's a slight price difference between them but they appear to be virtually the same machine.
What are the differences & (if anybody has had both) which would you recommend ?
Whilst i don't have a bottomless pocket full of cash i do want to spend wisely, i can't see the point in spending £30 on something that isn't up to the job when an extra £40-£50 gets you the "bees knees".
Likewise, if anybody has a used one which they are selling for a (very) sensible price let me know ::g
I'll now wait for MRIX to offer me a brand new one at half price....... :D
Thanks in advance ::g

I have got 1 Makro pointer left and if you use the 10% voucher code MDF8876 ::g
The Nokta has the advantage of extra sensitivity settings if that s something of
Benefit to you.

I haven't managed to destroy the Makro, that is a really good point about it. ::g The buttons are at the end of the handle so using it isn't intuitive but it is pretty sensitive. There is a writeup in the pinpointer section about them. :D

Thanks for that mate.
From what I can see it seems the main gripe users have had is with the 6 beeps....I’m pretty sure I could live with that. There doesn’t seem to be any issues with reliability or build quality, these tend to be the issues with some of the cheaper pointers & even with a few carrots from what I can see.
Once again I appreciate your time to post

I'm more than happy with the Nokta pointer, it's robust and I find it to be spot on and the battery life is good. It hasn't let me down in the nine months that I have owned it.

I've had the Makro for about 6 months now and can't fault it, only as you say the six beeps which get on my nerves but I can live with that. Very impressed with the battery life, same battery I started with and I detect twice a week. Other pointers I've had ate the batteries so I am pleasantly surprised.

ive got the makro pointer and its awesome. proper good bit of kit. the six beep thing is something you get used to. at least theres no doubt youve turned it off. ive had a gp pointer for nigh on two years and it still works fine and i still use it when i forget the makro (the gp lives in the car) the only reason i got the makro was thanks to a tax rebate :D , and i wanted it to furgle around in rock pools in the summer.
as to the difference i think the nokta is waterproof to a greater depth.

Hi guys, thought it 'good manners' to let you know that i settled on the Nokta pointer.
Had it out a handful of times now, on the beach, ploughed field & back garden (don't tell the missus !) & am very happy with it.....certainly makes target finding a quicker & tidier business !.
Mastered the art of putting a finger over the speaker when turning off, not that the 6 beeps is too much of a hassle to me it just stops the funny looks ;)
Thanks once again for your input,
happy hunting all
