Waterproofing the garret pinpointer 2

Post by Mickie_76 » Fri Mar 29, 2019 6:36 pm

Hi all
Ive wrapped the end of my pinpointer in gaffa tape to protect the end from wear and tear when I'm rooting around with it
I also put some tape over the on/off switch to protect it from the rain and all the mud but I intend to use it on the beach too which means water and more water do I'm wondering if it'll cause any damage to it if I put some tape over the speaker outlet on the side and also around the end where the batteries go in in an attempt to waterproof it.

I did that to my PP and put a small silica gel packet into the battery area. Has worked fine for years. ::g

It sounds like you should have gone for the AT Pro-pointer. x;
No amount of tape could cause any damage to it. ::g

You can get protective covers for them, I had one on mine for two years and the garrett was like new when I sold it, cover was still good too, only about £8 new

I used some large heat shrink over the cover on the end for double protection and prevented wear
