Garrett propointer AT eating batteries
Hi guys, I upgraded to a garrett at pro pointer at the beginning of this month. Are they known to eat batteries? The battery it was supplied with lasted half a day of detecting, fair enough I thought most things that come supplied with batteries are supplied with a poor battery, it was a duracell but hey ho
Bought another duracell power plus or something it was about £6 and that's just died today in total I've probably been out 3 days of detecting, my detector had a new set of batteries the same time as the pointer and that's dropped 2bars.
Can't be right can it?

hello, it has auto power off ? 60 minutes, so maybe a fault with your new one,my garret pointer still has same PP 3 battery from new although mine switches of in a shorter time, as it is new would be under warranty.

Hi yes it auto powers off, but I switch it off before putting it back in the holster so it's maybe only ever on for 30seconds at a time. I think I'll give crawfords a ring!

Re: Garrett propointer AT eating batteries
You should get months out of a single battery unless you are out for 8 hours every day. A few hours certainly isn’t right.

I get 3 months of use out of a battery with my 'carrot' and it gets used a lot. I use Duracell industrial's at about £1 each. You could try another fresh battery.

Nox 800, 15" coil & Garrett carrot.

I didn't think it could be right, I've bought some of the lidl batteries that trounced duracell in tests, I'll give them a go and if no better it's going back. Thanks people

Re: Garrett propointer AT eating batteries
It does sound as if there is a problem with the unit but it's worth trying a fresh battery before returning it as that's what they'll. I think most people (like yourself) turn their 'pointer' off after investigating each signal for battery power conservancy.
Just out of habit, I also remove the battery after every session as a matter of course. (My son raises his eyebrows each time he sees me do it).
Here's hoping you get a solution to the problem - Good Luck
