I noticed those too, but they seemed a little expensive... I then found this on an archery website, seems V similar... so I ordered one ;-)

Hopefully, it will work as well for 30% of price...

The ‘industry standard' protective case is made by Peli, a Peli Storm being the stronger version, lots of different shapes and sizes. My flyaway tool box has done countless international flights, has the scars to prove it yet remains as solid and intact as the day it was bought. Unfortunately Peli cases also come with an 'industry standard' price tag equivalent to a good starter detector.

The bow and arrow hard case is interesting. From the little I know bows aren’t cheap, 4 figures in the case of some compound bows. If the case is good enough for these it should be more than good enough for a detector. I’ll be very interested to hear what it is like.

This is a great idea,
For some reason the price seems to double when it's intended for a metal detector...
Interested to see how it works out. Could always make your own foam for inside ::g

Sorry all I forgot to respond in this thread, though think I may have done elsewhere...

Anyway, yes the case arrived, so ordering was all fine... I looked up cutting foam on Youtube and it seemed to suggest large bread knife so I gave it a go ;-)

And it worked remarkably well!

Here's a couple of pics...

Before I cut the foam

And after I cut it to take the 600

The top half of the case may not be all foam, but the foam cross bars (meant for arrows) do secure the machine, so I've had no issues with it coming out of the foam or slipping around.

Also enough room for the headphones too.

I'm very pleased with what was a speculative idea, worked out really well and at £30 it seems a total bargain to me.

That's a great job there, saves the machines rattling around the boot, I think I'll have a crack at making one of those

That looks really neat. Just ordered one to store the spare rather than to travel with. ::g
