Re: Knee pads
Tried a couple of stand alone types but never found them comfortable.
I then tried some builders trousers with cordura “pockets” on the knees for the foam pads and found them much more comfortable...You can also get combat style trousers meant for airsoft where the knees have a hard plastic knee pad moulded on....

Re: Knee pads
I dig a lot of pasture and looked through reviews at a lot of places last year. Most of the complaints were about 'slippage' and 'weak design'. I found an excellent pair which are still going strong, but I can't for the life of me recall where!! I think the company was called something like 'Cathy's Garden'. I'll let you know if I remember.

Found them. The company is called Cate's Garden. Can't recall the price.

Re: Knee pads
I tried Knee pads a few times but find that all at some point start wandering downwards
as you walk. It doesn`t matter how tight you make them and let's face it, you can only have them to a certain tightness otherwise you end up having a tourniquet and stopping your blood supply, so I gave up on knee pads a long time ago. But I did find the Solution.
Don`t kneel down, just bend your back and dig.

Re: Knee pads
I got a pair of the Tactical Pants with Knee Pads, Emerson Gen2 Camping Hiking Hunting Trousers, in a word fantastic, the knee pads are actually softly padded inside and the are just so many pockets and adjustments that can be made, one of my best recent buys
Loads of different colours and very hard wearing.

Re: Knee pads
My detecting partner and I both use the NoCry Professional pads.
They are strong and comfortable. If you fix the straps right (like a X) they stay in place but will eventually work downwards after an hour or two.
We wouldn't detect without them.

Re: Knee pads
When I 1st joined the forum I asked about knee pads and most replies guffawed about their use. Times and age catching up seems mellowed the responses now.

Re: Knee pads
I would happily wear Knee pads IF they`d stay put, but I can`t be doing with having to re adjust them every ten minutes or so. So, If I could find a suitable pair that actually stayed on my knees I`d wear them. But having them slipping down constantly just irritates me.lonecoiler wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2019 10:56 amWhen I 1st joined the forum I asked about knee pads and most replies guffawed about their use. Google those trousers mentioned by MRIX...they are available for £25 delivered and look excellent...Bors wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2019 11:58 amI would happily wear Knee pads IF they`d stay put, but I can`t be doing with having to re adjust them every ten minutes or so. As I said I use Dickies builders trousers which are about the same price but either way, you have no worries about the knee pads slipping down and no straps to cinch up around the knees....
I still have a pair of army surplus hard plastic knee pads but have not worn them since buying the builders trousers...

Re: Knee pads
£13.70 for a pair of SIlverline knee pads, available from a lot of independent hardware stores, and described as
"Neoprene knee pads with gel inserts for ultimate comfort. Hard plastic caps with fully adjustable straps."
Not had any issues with slippage, and velcro pads are quite large surface areas, so good adhesion.
They are also GUARANTEED FOR LIFE. Fill in the on-line form the you get home, and the first pair you buy should be the only pair you pay for.

Re: Knee pads
I got some cheap ones from L&^% but they dropped down all the time. Got some work trousers with knee pad pockets but the pads were useless. Cut the fastenings off the cheapo pads and took the hard outer pad off. Using the padded part in the pockets work for me.

Re: Knee pads
I run a plumbing company and we all use cargo type trousers with foam inserts that fit into pockets sewn into the knees, separate elasticated ones that you strap on tend to make sweat in warm weather and are prone to slipping out of position, also anything with any weight to it tends to get uncomfortable and ends up around your ankles when walking around!
