Whites Duel Field PI

Post by don morris » Sun May 22, 2016 6:38 am

Hi, Ive purchased a second hand White PI Duel Field detector, looks like new hardly used, been out twice only found coins and iron targets. My mind pondered so did an air test on a small gold chain approx 10grams, balled up in my fist, result = nothing, the machine didnt alarm at all, even when very close.
my sons cheap Garrett 150 alarmed to it....!

(Q Could this Whites machine faulty?) surely this this is not how they should be.

Any feed back would be appreciated..

Chains are seen as individual links. Most PI detectors will not see a small gold chain.

I find this strange, however true, a friend as just bobbed in with a solid gold ring and it does indeed work fine... the frustrating thing is this machine will alarm to a hair clip 12" deep... The small chain in question has been placed tightly balled in a plastic bag, and still no signal..!
The question remains - is a PI the best for wet/dry sand, considering chains are a 1st class target?

I have 2 surf PI machines and have owned a BHID 300. Small gold chains are a very difficult target for most detectors. If I were to try searching for small gold chains, I would go set the machine for maximum results and go extremely slow. It's not only a problem with White's but also other good machines.
