foil question.

Post by DvK » Mon Jan 11, 2016 12:16 pm

Quick question on foil,
The local beaches are full of can’s ring pulls foil wrappers etc. it’s really frustrating constantly digging big holes to pull more out. would I be correct in thinking notching out the sections it‘s coming up on would lessen the chances of finding coin’s and other stuff because they will be made in part of the same type of metal or will come up in that range on the scale?
Thanks Davey.

If you knock out foil you will also knock out hammered coins as well,my personal opinion is dont do it,its all part of detecting, you are lucky you dont use a Pulse machine on that beach of yours, its always best to use as little discrimination as possible so that you dont loose any decent targets.

Notching is mainly a US thing as they hunt alot on playing fields and tots lots which do have lot of foil but no hammered coins as such, they use it but we dont.
The difference between perception and reality can be vast indeed.

You will also notch out any chance of ever finding gold if you do that. Gold rings up as pulltabs and foil

I used to own a Euro Ace and can confirm that if you notch out foil you also notch out gold. It's all good fun. ::g
