Nothing wrong with the Ace 250 - great machine to start with. You could be digging a bit of iron to begin with. Just make sure you do a swing in multiple directions over a target - if the tone is constantly nice, it has to be dug. If you get high tone - silver in one direction and and iron grunt in another, then it will be deep / big iron. Some of these are worth digging as well. Some nice finds are made of iron!
You don't really need a pin-pointer to get out there. The pin-pointing function on the machine is fairly good - it target will be in the middle of the coil, done in 2 directions, 90 degrees apart, then you have it. As stated, if you walk over it, the machine will find it.
Good luck

They told me I’d never be any good at poetry, because I’m dyslexic, but so far I’ve made 3 jugs and a vase.
