I use one with a Nel Tornado coil great little machine easy to use but from my understanding not much use on wet sand (only from reports not tryed it on the beach myself)

Thanx Tetra, I haven’t even been out yet, I’m waiting for my pinpointer to come then I’ll go.im glad you rate the kit that gives me confidence,I’ll have to try the beach at some point, but first I’ll get to grips with it inland,thanks for the reply mate,I hope you have many good finds!

Nothing wrong with the Ace 250 - great machine to start with. You could be digging a bit of iron to begin with. Just make sure you do a swing in multiple directions over a target - if the tone is constantly nice, it has to be dug. If you get high tone - silver in one direction and and iron grunt in another, then it will be deep / big iron. Some of these are worth digging as well. Some nice finds are made of iron!
You don't really need a pin-pointer to get out there. The pin-pointing function on the machine is fairly good - it target will be in the middle of the coil, done in 2 directions, 90 degrees apart, then you have it. As stated, if you walk over it, the machine will find it.
