Middle Stem Camlocks

Post by DJ7432 » Sat Mar 25, 2017 11:41 pm

Hi guys,

Do any of you know if the Camlock outers sold by Regtons can be fitted to an existing middle stem that hasn't been originally fitted with them?

They look like they can be a great addition for stability.

Thanks in advance,

DJ

Sorry, dont know the answer but agree it would useful if they could, my euroace is quite wobbly mid-section. Ring regtons to ask, maybe!
As the Germans 'might' say:-

"SchvinginbleepindigginundFindenstuff!!!"

new XP Deus/11in coil: 1 silver sixpence 1 foot down!! most impressive.

Yeah my 250 creaks and flexes a bit so thought these would help.

I've emailed Nigel at Regtons so hopefully find out tomorrow.

Maybe a 3D printed part could do the job of reducing the wobble. I notice my new one has the wobble so will be drawing up a design to see if it works to stabilise the joints :))

Job done!

I made a 3D printed tube, 25 mm outside diameter, and internal diameter half way at 22.4mm and the other half 20mm, took an age to slide onto the lower stem as it was so snug, but once on it mated perfectly with the middle shaft (22.4mm diameter) and has stabilised the lower joint dramatically. There is still a slight movement in the upper joint but as that is so close to the control box I am not sure I could get another 3D printed tube to fit there. All in all a great success, providing it lasts in the field!
Will post picture later for you to see :-)

As promised photograph of the part in place, and also a cross section of the drawing.

Happy Days!

Yeah the plugger ones look good,
Will purchase if mine fails, although first outing on the beach it survived :-)
