gold ear ring

Post by felixthecat » Tue Jul 25, 2017 10:32 am

was asked to look for a gold ear ring for neighbor in her garden, was flicked off when she was using her clothes horse and it caught her ear, she did not loose backing. it had a white stone... My ace 250 did not recognize the earring ring she did not loose, and nor did the Garrett pro pointer. ? next move... is it not gold ?

Plastic maybe :)) :)) :))

The pointer would pick up any metal though they can struggle with small bits of tin foil.

Try all metal mode. Small gold is one of the first thing to get discriminated out.

Not surprised about the pinpointer they struggle to find 22 low charge cartridges.

You'll need a nugget-hunter...a 6KHz machine won't stand much chance on such a target. Something that runs at 20KHz+ is what's needed. Makro Racer Gold...Fisher Goldbug2.... Deeptech VistaGold.

What size is it ?

I would be confident of picking up a 5p size even with my 4.5khz machine to a few inches. It will pick up the clasp of a ladies gold chain

Gold stud. Forget it. Even touching it to the coil.

If your ace and PP didnt register when the unlost ring was presented to them ... then they must be plastic in my book.

Yes

Small gold is discriminated out roughly the same as a ring pull, foil.

A pinpointer will struggle to pick up a ladies gold chain.
