Re the video from the link above. Regtons told me that the wire insulation problem only occurred in older probes and Garrett have 'upgraded' their construction a few times since then. I have just received a new replacement for an 18 month old model that was falsing.

We'll see if this one behaves !

I don't know if this is just a coincidence but I did this fix to mine and advised my mate Daniel (the other garrett lad) and his seems cured too. I usually have my pro pointer in the car or my shed so I decided to bring it indoors and give it a good dry for a day or 2 near the radiator to dry out any moisture. It worked great after that but started sounding off again a few weeks later. Tried the same trick and it didn't help.

This happened when I changed my battery. Anyway, I play the guitar that uses a 9v battery. I found that a piece of card behind the battery gave a better contact. I decided to try the same with my pro printer. A piece of card folded and placed between the battery and the screw cap. Never had an problem since. Neither has dan.

It might be worth a try

If all else fails we do have a repair server on our MDF Auction here https://www.metaldetectingauction.com/l ... -pp/103381" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The service basically replaces the switch and eliminates the falsing.
Members who have used it have been very happy with the repair ::g

It seems the falsing comes mainly from the switch. The link mrix posted will get it sorted. I know the chap,fellow club member,does a great job!
