I've practically submerged it in wet saltwater sand and it operates flawlessly ::g

Was out recently at a beach ( one of my first times beach detecting ) - I found that the GPP was great on wet and dry but as soon as I dug deep enough in the wet to flood the hole it went off everywhere whilst directly pointing in the water.
I didn't know if that was normal or if there was something maybe wrong with it :-/

Sounds like you have both done the same thing and totally submerged it past the speaker hole without covering it up. Probably faulty now. It's not 100% waterproof so you have to be careful with the speaker hole around any water.

My Garrett pp works fine in salty sea water. ::g

when detecting on wet sand unlike land the rule of thumb is to make sure the target is out of the hole before using the probe, this will ensure you have no false signals and your probe will not be dipped in the salt water ::g

Well it should work fine, if as you say yours isn't then most likely it's faulty, unless the beach sand you detect on is covered in something that makes it react in that manner.

if zxadi's probe works fine everywhere else then i cant see it being a problem with the probe its self, its most likely down the the amount of mineralization within the wet sand on that particular beach ::g

if you remove the target from the hole before using the probe you shouldnt have any problems at all ::g

My gpp goes mad also when tip is placed in salt water, fine otherwise. Mine is the old black type, is it the carrot one that people are finding more stable or are both models basically the same in operation ?
