Organisations in the UK that provide public liability insurance for detectorists.

Hello I hope that I have put this topic in the right forum. I know it is a little bit early to be thinking about my annual insurance renewal. But this year Im planning ahead and looking at all the various options. With all these recent organisations offering insurance as well as the longer established national organisations, I wonder is there anyone who has a full list or organisations in the UK that offer public liability to detectorists, on and or away from rallies . Just going to use this information to make an informed decision this year rather than leaving it to the very last minute. cheers and thanks

NCMD cover seems as good as any for the relatively low fee

If you join NCMD for an annual fee of £8 your insurance is included. Probably as good as you are going to get and also what most detectorists use.

Thank you for your recommendation about the NCMD. What about the other options, Federation of Independent Detectorists, Association of metal Detecting Sport etc. Associaton of Detectorists ?. Are they all still going ?. Maybe Im wrong but do the Just Detect Facebook group offer insurance outside of their group digs. Any other social media groups ?
Anyone know if anyone gets this kind of public liability as part of their house or business insurance ?
Just asking if any other hobbyists have used these or can say the aforementioned choices are not an option anymore. Cheers and thanks everyone.

FID - seem pretty much defunct and nobody has seen a valid insurance policy for some time.
AMDS - NCMD founder(s) that prefer a more unionised structure than individuals.
AoD - a multiply rebranded cash cow for a certain individual - don`t offer insurance.
Just Detect - no, they were spawned from Detecting for Veterans (ongoing police investigation)

IMHO all organised digs should hold event insurance, its about £30 a day or less for a long term policy.

On a positive note I did find one more organisation which offers insurance for Metal Detectorists in the UK, and they go by the name of Country Club. I think they would be more suitable for people who enjoy multiple outdoor sports and hobbies and it allows you to get everything covered for the one annual price. Hope this helps someone.

"Other organisations" do not give you any representation on the stuff that goes on behind the scenes that can impact the hobby.

They will sell you insurance - if that is all you want.

At £35 a year for the country club insurance you can get 5 years of insurance in the NCMD. And you don't have to pay an extra £2.95 for a membership card!
