Hello and help with identification

Post by Bruno62. »

Hello,
My name is Andy and I’m new to this site and fairly new to detecting.
I found this weight on the Notts / Leicester border on farmland in a clod of earth. I have an Ace Garrrett detector and it was on coins setting.
It’s 2cm in diameter and weighs about 16g.
Apologies for having to place it along the measure due to the metal end. I’ll sort out a proper scale board.😁
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Initial thoughts after researching are a coin or trade weight but I can’t see any markings.
Best wishes,
Andy

Hi Andy, and welcome to the forum [81/]

I can't help you with the ID, but it does look to be a coin. Someone else may have an idea.

In terms of you scale: why not download and print our free scale... you can find it HERE.

You don't say which Garrett Ace you have, but here is the main Garrett Forum.

I can't quite tell from the top photo if that's a hole in the middle or a shank?

Hi Brad and Itruscan_Toad,
Thank you for your input, I’ll look into it.😁
I went on the Colchester metal detecting and treasure hunting site where they seem to have similar coin /trade weights if it is one.🤞
It probably needs to be cleaned professionally to see if there are any markings
All the best,
Andy

Apologies Etruscan-Toad for the spelling error.
I meant to say it’s definitely a hole on the top.
Cheers Andy
